ALBION LOOK FOR 6TH CONSECUTIVE HOME WIN TO WRAP UP 2018/2019 SEASON AT THE BRICKFIELDS…
It’s fair to say that Albion have had a season that has been full of highs & lows, but as the season draws to a close and Albion set themselves up for the final game of the season at home, they welcome Loughborough Students to the Brickfields.
Loughborough have been battling hard to pull themselves out of the relegation zone in National League One, with two wins from their last 3 games, they have now pulled 5 points clear of bottom place Esher and only 2 points stand between them another season in the 3rd tier.
For Albion this means that Loughborough will be looking to come to the Brickfields for the win. Albion of course are safe and now sit in 6th place, but don’t be fooled by their position, the team are looking to win both remaining games, so you can certainly expect a great game of attacking rugby this coming weekend.
The last time the two teams meet, away at Loughborough just before Christmas, Albion came out on top with a 34 point to 6 point win. The conditions were extremely tough for both teams, temperatures hit -2c and the wind and rain were lashing down.
Commenting on the game back in December, Head Coach Kieran Hallett said; “Today was an excellent example of how to play wet weather rugby, we managed the conditions better, which allowed us to manufacture better field position, which allowed us to exert pressure and force mistakes. Ultimately, our work rate and desire to do the boring things well was what won the game.”
With the conditions looking to be on the opposite end of the scale this weekend, and with the home advantage, Albion will be looking for a repeat of the performance against Birmingham Moseley just two weeks ago, Albion winning that clash 54-28.
Hallett said; “We showed some great mentality in the last home game against Moseley and ultimately, that is what we need to do with both the remaining games of this season, starting with Loughborough this weekend.”
Hallett went on to say; “The team were really sharp all round and we did not miss any chances, I think this was demonstrated in the eight tries we put past them.”
He wasn’t wrong, the performance was outstanding and the crowds were at an all-time high, giving the team had the motivation they needed to put on an incredible display of rugby.
Albion have asked the fans to turn up in their droves and cheer them on, so make sure you get to the ground this weekend and get behind the team for one final time this season at the Brickfields – it promises to be a cracker! Kick off is 3pm, but the ground, bars & food are available from 12 noon.
