Q & A regarding the Championship Double Header

The RFU confirmed the Championship’s first sponsor yesterday. The Championship will now be known as The Greene King IPA Championship League!

Great news!

To launch the newly named league, the RFU have arranged an EXTRA match for ALL Championship clubs. These extra matches will be held at neutral grounds all around the UK and there will be a Double Header played at all venues.

Our Double Header is at Sandy Park and kicks off the new Championship sponsorship.

Questions arising from supporters and other local sponsors:

Why are we supporting Sandy Park? We are not – this is an EXTRA fixture and is not included in any season ticket pricing structures. This has been arranged by the RFU and all Championship clubs will participate in the “23rd” game.

Who will get the revenue? All four clubs appearing at Sandy Park on 14 September will have the opportunity to sell tickets for a 4 week exclusive window commencing 8 July 2013 – all revenue received from those pre-sales will go to the home club – so in Albion’s case all revenue from tickets sold by Albion will be kept by Albion.

Why should we support the Double Header? Because by buying your ticket early and going along to Sandy Park you will have the opportunity to support your team, just as you would if they were playing in a cup final at Twickenham. And by buying your ticket early you are ensuring that Albion get the revenue

What about travel? We are still in discussions with the RFU about possible funding to help supporters get to Sandy Park en-masse – more information on this will follow.

Please note this double header at Sandy Park is an EXTRA, match to kick start the championship season, and not  included in your season ticket. Your season ticket is for all 11 Home League matches and 3 British and Irish home cup matches as normal.
