Plymouth Albion have been informed by Gloucester Rugby that the pre-season friendly that was due to be played at Kingsholm on Saturday 16 August will not now be going ahead.
The weekend on which the game was due to be played is an EPS rest week, which will rule out Gloucester’s international players.
On top of that Premiership rugby this week confirmed that Gloucester Rugby will be participating in the World Club 7’s that is taking place at Twickenham that weekend.
As a consequence Gloucester don’t have the playing resources to fulfil the fixture and have apologised to Albion for cancelling the game.
Gloucester CEO Stephen Vaughan said, “We’re very disappointed as Plymouth were a welcome preseason guest to Kingsholm last season. I’d like to thank them for their understanding, they’re naturally disappointed but have been terrific about the matter.”
Albion officials have moved quickly and have covered the blank date.
Albion will now travel to Wales on Saturday 16 August to play Neath at The Knoll (kick off 3pm)
