Plymouth Albion have strengthened their front row options for next season by signing two new props.
27 year old Tom Fidler joins from Championship rivals Jersey, while 21 year old Tom Heard moves from Hartpury College.
Fidler, who has played for England Students and England Counties, will provide much needed bulk to the Albion pack standing 6’ 3” and weighing 130kgs.
Fidler has previously played for Dings Crusaders, Newbury, Ealing Trailfinders and joined Jersey last summer after one season at Cambridge.
Heard who was born in Taunton has developed his game as a member of the Gloucester Academy at Hartpury College, where he was a colleague of Albion flanker Rob Langley.
Albion head coach James Shanahan speaking about his two new signings said, “Both Toms will provide us with a big physical presence in the front row, an area we have been looking at strengthening.
“Fidler is experienced and is aggressive in the tight but there are areas of his game I know we can develop.
“Heard is still very much learning his trade but he comes highly recommended and he has the ability to play at Championship level.”
Shanahan added, “The squad for next season is coming together well but we still have another seven players to add to those who have already signed contracts.”
