Plymouth Albion this week further strengthened their squad for next season by signing lock Tom Jubb from Saracens and prop Cameron Zeiss from Tarbes in France.
As well as the two new signings 22 year old prop Tom Harrison, who joined Albion last summer, has agreed terms for a second season at Brickfields.
21 year old Jubb who stands 6’ 6” and weighs 103 kgs is well known to Albion head coach James Shanahan having played for him when on loan at Old Albanian.
Jubb joined the Saracens Academy in 2010 and after a loan spells at Cambridge and Old Albanian he joined Bedford Blues this season as a dual registered player.
Shanahan said, “Tom is a very good rugby player who as well as the second row can also play 6 and 8. After I heard he had been released by Saracens I spoke to him and he’s very keen to come to Plymouth Albion.”
23 year old Zeiss was born in South Africa but was educated at Millfield. Whilst doing a politics degree at Leeds Met University he joined Leeds Carnegie before moving to Esher.
Zeiss who stands 6’ 3” and weighs 124kgs left Esher last summer to move across the Channel to Tarbes.
Shanahan added, “Cameron is a big strong prop who will strengthen our front row. He can play on both sides of the front row providing us with more options. I did a fair bit of research about him and am pleased he has decided to move to Albion.”
Harrison joined Albion from Auch Gers in France and this season he has made 15 league appearances as well as 7 in the British & Irish Cup.
Shanahan said, “Tom joined us last year as a development prop and his game really came on well. He has a good work ethic and got more game time than he probably had been expecting.
“Tom is a good professional and I’m looking forward to working with him again next season.”
