Plymouth Albion head coach James Shanahan continued building his squad for next season by capturing the signature of 24 year old utility back Mark Kohler, who is currently playing for National 1 side Coventry.
Kohler is a former Canada under 20 international and previously played for Luton and Bedford Blues.
Speaking about Kohler who has signed a one year contract with the option of a second season Shanahan said, “Mark can play wing, full back or 13 and I first saw him when he was playing for Bedford.
“I tried to sign him when I moved to Plymouth last year and have had him on my radar for a while.
“Mark is keen to have another go at Championship rugby and he has family in the Westcountry. He is a very physical player who has good pace and he is a strong ball carrier.”
Another player who has signed a contract for next season is 20 year old scrum half Cameron Setter.
Setter has been registered with Albion this season and he has made two appearances off the bench in the British & Irish Cup.
Shanahan commenting on Setter who leaves University this summer said, “Cameron is a local lad, which will be good for the Albion set up. He impressed me in pre season and is an exciting prospect who will thrive in a full time environment.”
One player who won’t be playing for Plymouth next season is 21 year old full back Chris Elder who has accepted an offer from another Championship team.
Elder who joined Albion last summer from Esher has played in every league game this season scoring four tries.
