Plymouth Albion add Max Crumpton to squad

Plymouth Albion add England under 20’s hooker Max Crumpton to their squad

Plymouth Albion head coach James Shanahan has strengthened his front row options by signing England under 20’s hooker Max Crumpton on a long term loan from Saracens.

19 year old Crumpton, who stands 5′ 11” and weighs 102kgs, played in the 2012 IRB Junior World Championships that were held in South Africa.

Last February Crumpton played for England under 20’s against Scotland, a match that took place at Plymouth Albion’s Brickfields ground.

Shanahan said, “This season we have been running on just two hookers and that is always a bit risky. I have been looking for another hooker for a while and when the A League matches finished I contacted Saracens about the availability of Max.

“Max played for me when I was at Old Albanians. He is a good physical hooker who knows me and he knows my systems.

“We will see how the first month goes but I would like the loan to continue until the end of the season”

Crumpton will go straight into the Plymouth Albion squad for this weekends British & Irish Cup match away to Stirling County.
