15th September Plymouth vs Blackheath

A controversial last-minute no-call stole victory from Albion’s grasp Saturday, as the sides sluggish opening to National League one continued with a close 21-20 loss at the Brickfields to Blackheath. In the dying minutes of the game, Blackheath struggled to contain Albion’s strong forward pack through the scrum, opting to spoil play and wheel, rather than push back. After three attempts, a yellow was given to Blackheath prop, Tom Williams, but not a penalty try, to the amazement of the everyone in the crowd who could see that was the only way Albion were being kept out. Former player to head up the community team…

8th September Esher vs Plymouth

Plymouth Albion did just enough to see off Esher at Molesey Road to secure their first victory and first bonus point of the season. The match was a very scrappy affair with both teams making a number of unforced errors. Albion’s performance was certainly an improvement on their opening day loss but there is a lot to work on for head coach Kieran Hallett and his support team. Star of the show for Albion was skipper Herbie Stupple who led by example and fully deserved his hat trick of tries. Speaking after the game Hallett said, “We did some really...
