New Albion Signing, Koree Britton ‘Has something to prove’

Plymouth Albion has signed Torquay-born Koree Britton. The hooker says he’s delighted to be joining Albion, particularly as one of his best friends, Dan Mugford is in the squad. “He’s half the reason why I’m putting my boots back on,” he says. “We’ve known each other since we were nine and we’ve kept in touch.” Koree was only four-years-old when he started at Dartmouth minis with his older brother. “I was running around like a headless chicken, tackling my brother and all his mates. He lost interest but I carried on,” he says. As a teenager, he joined the Exeter Chiefs Youth  and also represented Devon u15/u16 and the England Under 18/20s. He played for Gloucester,...

Carl, who joined Exeter from the Cornish Pirates in 2012, was forced to retire suddenly last...

Dean Squire Renews Contract

Centre Dean Squire says he’s pleased to be returning to Plymouth Albion for a fourth season, where he still feels there’s plenty of room for development. “We went through a bit of a tough patch at the start of the year but we managed to get ourselves out of a sticky situation to finish in the top five,” he says. “We took a hard look at ourselves and it was great to see that we had enough in us to turn it around and things started to click. When we did lose games, we weren’t really a million miles away...

PLYMOUTH ALBION NEW SIGNING RETURNS TO WESTCOUNTRY Javiah Pohe’s love of rugby has taken him around the world. He was born in New Zealand and started playing Rugby League at the age of eight. Javiah then moved to Cornwall with his family at the age of 14, where he switched to Rugby Union and played for his local Cornish teams, later moving on to gain more experience from other English clubs, including appearances for the national youth side – and in France. “In New Zealand I wanted to play rugby, as any young Kiwi does. My parents encouraged me and...

Dan Mugford agrees new contract

DAN MUGFORD SIGNS NEW CONTRACT It’s been a sticky couple of seasons at Plymouth Albion for fly half/centre Dan Mugford. The 2017/18 season was marred by injury including rupturing a finger tendon and breaking his arm in the gym, which resulted in surgery. With the all-clear from his surgeon – and after working during the summer to get match fit – Dan came a cropper in the pre-season friendly against Exeter University last autumn when, just 30 seconds into the game, he was taken off with concussion. He struggled with injury throughout the past year, so he’s pleased to sign...

Plymouth Albion winger Setareki Raumakita signs for another season at the club on a high – he helped Cornwall to a 14-12 victory over Cheshire at Twickenham earlier this month to win the Bill Beaumont Cup. It was Former Albion team mate Matt Shepherd who converted his game-saving try to secure victory for Cornwall, despite playing with only 14 men in the second half. Seta, as he’s known, started playing rugby on the South Pacific island of Fiji where he was born. Rugby is the number one sport in the country which has more than 80,000 registered players in a...
