Plymouth Albion have made a big statement of intent for the coming season with the signing of Navy powerhouse Scott Makepeace who joins for a second stint at the Ocean City Club. Standing at 6ft 7 and weighing in at 116kgs, his return will add some real grunt to Albion’s already formidable forward pack.
With experience captaining the Navy U23’s and playing for the full Naval side, he left Albion prior to lockdown but his return couldn’t have come at a better time for head coach Damian Welch who added “We are really pleased to welcome Scott back to Brickfields where he will make a great re-addition to a pack that really became a force in the league over the second part of the season. Scott adds real proven experience and work rate and really adds competition for places to our back 5 of the scrum.”
A clearly delighted Makepeace said “I’m absolutely buzzing to be back playing for Plymouth, it’s been a tough few years for me personally with injury and work commitments but Plymouth have been incredibly supportive throughout and it’s something I’m sincerely grateful for! I’m honoured to be given the opportunity to play back at Brickfields infront of an amazing crowd week in week out, I’ve got a lot of work to do to get back fit but I’ll make sure I do my upmost to be able to do the club proud. Having spoken to Max the club is heading in an exciting direction and I can’t wait to be back playing with some great players and even better people, I’m so grateful of the opportunity to come back to this great club”.
It’s great to have you back Scott!
