8th December Plymouth vs Sale FC

Report by Paddy Marsh.  When you have lost your last five games any win is crucial and certainly welcome. Albion’s poor recent run saw us slip into one of the National League One relegation places, but this narrow victory over newly promoted Sale FC will be a big boost to the players and the coaches. The strong wind that was blowing right down the pitch had a big influence on the match. Not for the first time this season, both teams on show played better into the wind, an advantage Albion had in the second half. A relieved Head Coach...

1st December Birmingham Moseley vs Plymouth

A disappointing game way to Birmingham Moseley, see Plymouth Albion lose 48 points to 26, dropping Plymouth to 14th place in National League One. Plymouth Albion travelled to Birmingham Moseley looking for their first win in five games, having lost out on the previous four games, but it was the home side, Birmingham Moseley, that came out of the blocks firing on all cylinders! With Roach & Hearle on the wings and Nick David at full-back, Moseley’s backline offered up searing pace, which Plymouth Albion failed to contain, it had looked like plain sailing for Moseley with Williams crossing the...

24th November Plymouth v Rosslyn Park

Robert Tunley at Brickfields A second half riddled with mistakes cost Plymouth Albion dearly Saturday, as the depleted squad dropped another home game in a 35-21 National League One defeat to Rosslyn Park. Albion seemed competitive for the opening 40 minutes, but a gradual abrasion to the squad proved too much to handle, as the visitors quite literally ran away with the result. After playing the majority of the game to cover the landslide of injuries in his squad, player-coach Kieran Hallett admitted his side wasn’t good enough to win. He said: “We’re not good enough. “If you can’t win...

17th November Darlington Mowden Park vs Plymouth

A spectacular start ends with defeat for Plymouth Albion in a hard fought encounter against Darlington Mowden Park. Albion arrived in the North East, after stopping over in Wakefield overnight, however from the first whistle, Plymouth Albion got straight down to business, scoring a try in the third minute courtesy of hooker Jamie Salter, who profited from a typical catch and drive effort from the first lineout of the game, converted by full back Matt Shepherd to bring the score very quickly to a 0-7 lead to Albion. It seemed that the lads were up for the fight and laying...

Plymouth Albion 15 Old Elthamians 19 Robert Tunley at Brickfields Plymouth Albion were pipped to the post Saturday, as the side were beaten by top of the table Old Elthamians, in a close National League One contest at Brickfields. Both sides seemed evenly matched through the wind-swept game, but a couple of missed conversions proved fatal for Albion, who couldn’t quite keep up. Albion’s head coach Kieran Hallett was naturally disappointed after his sides second loss in a row. After the match he said: “We practiced all week to do certain things, but two minutes in we lose a player...

27th October Rotherham vs Plymouth

PLYMOUTH ALBION COULDN’T STOP THE TITANS WINNING STREAK AT CLIFTON LANE LOSING 25 -14. It’s the fifth consecutive win for newly relegated Rotherham Titans and although Albion put up a good fight they were unable to break the winning streak. The victory for Rotherham on a bitterly cold afternoon at Clifton Lane moves them into second spot in the league behind Old Elthamians, but with 21 games remaining everything is up for grabs for a number of teams in this most unpredictable of divisions. The game saw Rotherham nose themselves ahead on 10 minutes when scrum half Alex Dolly successfully knocked...

13th October Cinderford vs Plymouth

Cinderford 15 Plymouth Albion 12 A delayed kick off by half an hour due to travel issues wasn’t a great start for Plymouth Albion in their match at Cinderford on Saturday. The first half saw the home side with the advantage of a strong wind behind them. Both teams play was even for the first twenty minutes before a penalty for a collapsed scrum was awarded to the home team, the Cinderford fly half made no mistake in sailing it through the posts on the wind. 3-0. Albion carried on pressing to get points on the score board, but Cinderford...

6th October Plymouth vs Caldy

Match Report by Robert Tunley at Brickfields Plymouth Albion showed their power Saturday, in a bonus point statement victory over National league one table toppers Caldy, winning 24-14 at Brickfields. For the duration of the game Albion were in charge and seemed to be the only side on the park as Caldy did little to pose a threat and live up to their own early season success. Understandably, head coach Kieran Hallett was delighted his side were beginning to get themselves together after some shaky results to open their Nat One campaign. He said: “We’ve spoken a lot in the...
