3rd March 2013 Nottingham

Nottingham 30-22 Albion

Albion would have been disappointed leaving the game without any points at the weekend, but what a performance in the last 10 minutes scoring two quick try’s.

Nat Saumi made only two changes to the team that had started against Bedford two weeks ago.

Forwards Rupeni Nasiga and Jack Andrew were ruled out with injury and they were replaced by Brett Beukeboom and David Morton.

Albion would be looking to add to the performance two weeks before against Bedford. But again they will be disappointed to gift Nottingham two cheap try’s so early into the game.

Nottingham included former Albion lock Nic Rouse in their side playing.

Third-placed Nottingham scored two tries in the first 15 minutes of the game with wingers Ryan Hough and Alex Lewington crossing the line. James Alridge missed both conversions and a fourth-minute penalty.

Nottingham went 17-0 up when Hough scored a second try on the 30 minute mark.

But Albion went in at the break just seven points behind after a 39th minute penalty from fly half Paul Roberts and a length-of-the-field breakaway try for Tom Bowen, Bevon Armitage created the space for speed man then Roberts converted.

Alridge kicked a penalty after the interval before Hough claimed Nottingham’s fourth try and his hat-trick.

Albion managed to score 12 points in 3 minutes in extra time. First, Carpenter went over from close range on the right in the sixth-minute of added on time, Cusack did not convert, before, and the last play of the game, Keni Fisilau showed a moment of magic creating space putting McAtee in for a try, which Cusask did convert.

Fisilau looked strong running with ball in hand when on the pitch, giving the Albion team some good go forward. His work rate on the pitch is a great example to any young athletes who aspire to play top level sport.

Albion are next at home next weekend when they entertain Jersey. Securing points here would put pressure on the teams below giving Albion a safety net going into the remaining games, esspically with our last game being against Doncaster at the end of the season on the 19th April.
